SERVICE

SERVICE
Let me ask you something: what do you have a relationship with in your life? What have you built a relationship with? Whom do you serve? What do you serve? Do you serve your pains, pretences, fear, desires, vanity, addictions, quick satisfaction, and cheap feeling of happiness? Or do you serve something that is permanent and eternal? Something that brings lasting happiness and joy, trust, love, abundance, develops potential, and liberates you?
You see, when you serve something limited, painful, and superficial, you also receive its blessing. If you serve suffering, regret, and sadness, then you also receive their qualities. They give you themselves in the best way they can. What do you expect from illusion ….. that it will fill you with happiness? That is impossible, it has no capacity for that. Because illusion is not divine, illusion is not unconditional and eternal, it is a deception that you yourself support.
So who is the hypocrite and the fool here? Who fell for it? You? Or those you accuse? You choose for yourself which path you will walk. And because you are reading this article and coincidence does not exist, it means that you decided long ago. You decided to step out of illusion. Because there is cause and effect, and that brought you here, you chose it. Recognition of who you are … you want to be yourself. You have chosen the path of seeing the depth of your soul, which is divine and eternal.
It was not easy for me to accept it either. To accept the fact that we live in deception. I myself grew up in our society, where even at the cost of life we believe that what we have built is real life and the purpose of existence. But the truth is that we serve our untamed mind, which never has enough, which is like flames of destruction we do not control. Every superficial desire combined with the arrogance of our egoistic human nature stands above everything, even at the cost of pain and suffering.
We are slaves to our mind, to all habits and entrenched tracks. Because at first glance it seems real, and especially like a quick solution and satisfaction. Right? That feeling when something irritates you and you quickly satisfy it, cover it, and believe you have solved it, but the truth is that you only postponed it or hid it. The reality is that you voluntarily suffer and only create more misery.
So whom do you serve? Hatred and jealousy disguised as love? Tyranny pretending to be a friend, manipulation disguised as kindness, addiction disguised as happiness, fear disguised as abundance? Where are you and your service? To whom? And why?
Because you do not see the boundary within which we move as human society, the boundary between deception and truth. Many of us swim in a sewer and call it an ocean.
It is easy to walk the path of truth, but it may seem difficult when you are lost in illusion and when you have stepped off the path like many others who also do not see, and you support each other. Why is that? Because we have a relationship with it. And that which we are in relationship with feels closer to us than closeness itself.
But listen, what do we have a relationship with? With fear, sorrow, regret, defeat, resignation, lies, pretence, manipulation, addiction, obsession, indifference, laziness, and I could go on. These are many qualities that come from the dual mind. But what relationship do we have with the reality of being? With love, with lasting happiness without external causes, with our kindness and compassion? Relationship with divine qualities within us, like patience, unity, love, qualities that warm the heart and soothe the soul.
With those we do not have a strong relationship, we do not build it, and definitely not publicly. It seems embarrassing to rejoice in society just like that, to show compassion, to show affection. That is something intimate, something for home. But getting drunk senselessly and creating a scandal is considered normal, and it is done in front of everyone.
What ridiculous values! What do you think? What do you feel?
Then the reality of unconditional love, unity, the reality of the essence of our being, which is the soul, and lasting blissful union with the universe seems absurd to our mind. You say, “I do not understand it, I have no relationship with it.” Why? Because you never built one. You always prefer the mind over the heart. Of course you do not know. And that is why it is easier to believe the lie that pretends to be truth.
So now I ask you again, whom do you serve? And whom do you want to serve? And it is very likely that you hold yourself back because the mind wants to serve only what it knows, even at the cost of your being. Mainly so that it does not have to change, transform, or take a step forward and cooperate in fulfilling your true nature. Often self-destruction is closer to it. And many of us, even though we know, still run away. For some reason, we overlook the truth. In the end we tell ourselves that the illusion is comfortable. The mind can get used to anything, but your being suffers. Many people live in the sewer, so why not you? But when you bravely climb out of the sewer, a lake is waiting for you. You have a choice.
Accept our lower qualities as part of you, but do not serve them anymore and do not believe the illusion that they are all there is. Accept them, but do not judge. It is a fact that they exist as a by-product, as a factor of our suffering that arises from separation from reality, simply surviving in illusion.
And therefore I encourage you, since you have come this far and read my words, turn your attention to the highest aspect of love, called Prem. Build a relationship with your own divinity, with qualities worthy of a human being, which are part of God and His creation. Become a servant of unconditional love and not a servant of evil.
Because a human being is meant for service. Every breath you take is service, whether you want it or not. Even when you wake up in the morning and go to the toilet, you serve the needs of your body. Then you make breakfast for the needs of your stomach, and so on, up to serving your family or money. We serve constantly.
But when you become a servant of love, and I do not mean desire or chemistry we often mistake for love, but the kind of love where you forget yourself and are here for others, that is true love. Mother, child, friendship, eternal lovers. Unconditional love, love for love, love between you and God, Prem. Then you will be free because such love is freedom. And when you serve freedom, you receive freedom.
When you wisely understand this, there is only one step left: to detach yourself from habits, mental and emotional patterns we took as our own. The conditioning of society, that we must express the correct emotion and have a mental opinion about everything. And therefore paradoxically, our true nature, lasting bliss, love, wisdom, respect, sharing, compassion seems like a great unknown.
Jump! Jump with me into the lake. Be the truth, because we already are. Let us lift the veil together.
Allow me now to touch the topic of Satguru. I know it is the last thing you want to hear. Society has its general idea about them, but even that comes from illusion.
Who is a satguru? When he is a true, real satguru, a teacher of teachers, he never comes for himself. He already has everything and can have anything he wishes, not because he is so perfectly powerful from the perspective of manipulative ego, but because he is fully immersed in the truth we are searching for. And he is absolutely humble toward what he has received, what he carries. He is truth itself; he is what we are searching for. Everything is contained within him. He is aware of reality and illusion. And he came to remind us and help us on our path.
That is why we ask him to guide us, and we are willing to give him everything, everything limited, because what use is it? You know it has no real value. Well, maybe it has some value, but only when you already are yourself. And often the satguru, without asking anything from you, is always close to you, like a father and mother to their child. And when he asks something from you, it is only for your progress toward the Light.
Therefore it is grace when the satguru calls you, he gives you the opportunity to be inspired and to learn.
A being fully immersed in divine reality is God, or rather, God is Him. He let go of everything that prevented him from being That, and he succeeded. And he tells us that we, too, are drops of this ocean, and that it is possible. “I came to remind you, but I cannot do it for you,” he often says. For me, the satguru represents, and is, the highest truth of this creation, which is part of everything. Unity and energy that moves everything, the Source, God, the Universe, Nirvana, Satcitānanda, he is Prem, or rather, they are Him.
For me, the satguru represents, and is, the highest truth of this creation, which is part of everything. Unity and energy that moves everything, the Source, God, the Universe, Nirvana, Satcitānanda, he is Prem, or rather, they are Him.
The incredible grace and awareness that when you decide to serve Him, it is like serving Truth itself and God. For our mind, this is simple to perform and understand. Not all of us are able to fully comprehend the depth of serving the infinite God, who seems abstract, or serve qualities like bliss, Satcitānanda, which we have never experienced. But the satguru becomes a clear object of service and one-pointed focus for the heart longing for freedom. It is a wonderful opportunity to build a relationship with God through the relationship with the satguru.
For a human being this is natural, and yet rare, so rare that it can be considered God’s mercy.
Tell me, how can one deepen a relationship with God, who is infinite, incomprehensible, eternal, unlimited, who is Reality, while we as humans are temporary, limited, understandable, and living in illusion? This is the opportunity when God gives Himself to those who hear, those who see, or at least those who want. Even just thinking of Him immerses you deeper into Truth.
Thanks to the presence of the satguru, the journey of the soul is no longer like waving into empty space, but like being embraced by the divine father and mother who help you grow.
How unconditional can Love be? What is grace like? Do we even understand the meaning of these words?
You know, I would say that unconditional Love is brave, liberating, truthful, tolerant, forgiving, compassionate, and it is grace for the one who ignites it in their heart. And now I ask you again. When someone is fully immersed in these qualities, when someone is these qualities, can they act otherwise? Grace gives only grace, as I wrote at the beginning. You serve humanity, humanity is given to you. You serve your desires, you will desire. You serve lies, you will lie. You serve pleasure, you will be pleased. If you serve illness, it will come with its blessing.
And therefore, all truly saints are those who truly focused on God, if you will, on the truth of Creation, the Source, or the Lord. In Hinduism we have various forms of the Lord with all His mantras and names, like Nārāyana, Vishnu, Krishna, Vittala, Narasimha, or Rama. Saints focused on the highest or deepest experience and knowledge, focused on the reality of God, on bliss and grace itself. They testify to it through their experience. They are saints of this truth and bring us its message, the message of the kingdom of God within our heart after laying aside the veil of ignorance. And believe me, none of them had it easy, hence the glory of God. Glory lined with whip, chains, thorns like the path of Christ. But he also knew that the beauty of the rose goes despite the thorns. And the thorns are human stupidity and ignorance.
And I also ask God for eternal service to Him. Not for myself to become divine, but because there is still the “I” that represents small ego, the seed of arrogance and pride, which leads back to deception. But “I” ask Him that I may serve Him eternally, because He is grace, He is unconditional love and bliss, and thus eternal freedom. When I serve grace, grace is given to me.
So I ask you once again. Whom do you serve? I serve my satguru Paramahamsa Vishwananda. And every day I work so that this relationship through service becomes unity.
Thank you that I can serv to you Amen.
With love and prayer for you,
Romana Anuradha dasi
